It’s November, which means it’s the month of the ‘Mo’.
Back in 2003, two Australian guys were having a beer when the conversation turned to how few men grew moustaches. Inspired by a friend’s mother, who was fundraising for breast cancer, they agreed to challenge men to grow a moustache (or a Mo) and charge them 10 dollars. Thirty men signed up.
Fast forward to 2016 and the Movember campaign now runs in a host of countries including the UK, USA, most of Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa.
Since 2003 a total of £443 million has been raised and 1,200 men’s health projects have been funded focused on prostate cancer.
Did you know that women can get involved too? (but not by growing moustaches!! That’s what we are for!) Over the years a small army of Mo Bros have been joined by Mo Sistas. They are the women who help organise events and rally support and fundraising firepower for the guys growing moustaches for Movember. If you’d like to get involved this year, you can still support the campaign via its website, https://uk.movember.com/
For men it’s a personal choice whether to grow a moustache or a beard. From puberty the guys have to accept that if they want a clean-shaven, baby-smooth face, daily shaving is going to be part of their life. Designer stubble has come in and out of fashion, but Mo Sistas – however much they support Movember – don’t want to face a daily battle with five-o-clock shadow.
Excessive facial hair can make life a misery for many women, and it’s not a subject many women are happy to discuss. They may shave secretly with a disposable razor, or try messy depilatory creams or painful waxing, but some women find that shaving seems to make things worse. Blunt hairs can look darker and coarser after a razor has sliced them off.
At XODOS, the ground-breaking Soprano® IN-Motion™ laser is one of a small handful in use across the UK. Our clients tell us they are the best, most comfortable treatment available for facial hair. Eight treatments can reduce hair in a treated area by up to 80% on most clients – and any hair that does grow back is often much finer.
Our machine can treat any hair, anywhere, in women and men. There’s no build up of heat and it is genuinely pain-free.
Mo Bros might be proud of their facial hair but want to get rid of excessive hair on the back of their hands, chest or backs – or anywhere else.
Our Staffordshire clinic at Curborough, on the outskirts of Lichfield, offers quick discreet, confidential treatments.
Generally, after each treatment, you’ll see a noticeable, permanent reduction in the number of hairs that regrow on the area of skin that has been treated. Why not book a free, no obligation patch test and consultation – or buy a voucher for a treatment or course of treatments for a loved one this Christmas.
